Volunteer Opportunities

Neighbors Light depends on the generosity and skills of community volunteers. Whether you have a few hours a week or a specific skill to share, there are many ways to get involved.

Volunteers help participants stabilize, rebuild routines, and move toward independence.

One-time or Group Opportunities

Meal Preparation

Prepare and serve nutritious meals for residents and daytime center participants. Groups and individuals welcome.

Donation Sorting

Organize and distribute donated clothing, hygiene supplies, and household items.

Ongoing Weekly Roles

Mentoring

Build one-on-one relationships with participants, offering encouragement, accountability, and friendship as they work toward their goals.

Transportation Coordination

Help participants get to medical appointments, job interviews, and other important destinations.

Skilled or Professional Volunteers

Skills Training

Teach job skills, life skills, or creative workshops (cooking, budgeting, computer literacy, art, music, etc.).

Administrative Support

Assist with data entry, filing, event planning, and other office tasks.

Donation Needs

Your donations directly support the daily operations of Neighbors Light and provide essential resources for participants rebuilding their lives.

Most Needed Items

Personal hygiene products (soap, shampoo, toothpaste, deodorant, razors)
New socks and underwear (all sizes)
Gently used clothing (especially work-appropriate attire)
Laundry detergent and cleaning supplies
Non-perishable food items (canned goods, pasta, rice, snacks)
Backpacks and duffel bags
Bus passes and gas cards
Gift cards to grocery stores and retail stores

Please note: We cannot accept used mattresses, large furniture, or expired food items.

Sponsor a Program

This page is designed for individuals, families, businesses, and faith communities who want to fund specific, tangible impact.

Your financial support makes it possible for Neighbors Light to provide comprehensive services to individuals working toward independence.

Sponsor Transitional Housing

Provides one month of housing, meals, and case management for five residents.

$2,500

Sponsor Workforce Training

Funds a full job readiness program for one participant, including training, certification, and job placement support.

Sponsor Medical Recovery

Provides one week of medical step-down care, including meals, medication management, and follow-up coordination.

Sponsor Daytime Stabilization

Provides one month of daytime center access, meals, and resources for ten participants.

Interested in sponsoring a different amount or combining program areas? We're happy to work with you.

Sponsorships support these program areas and may be used where needs are greatest to ensure continuity of care.

Program sponsors may be acknowledged on our website or annual report upon request.

Employers

Neighbors Light partners with local employers to connect reliable workers with real jobs. We support onboarding and check in regularly to help placements succeed.

Referral Partners

Neighbors Light works by referral only. Case managers and partner organizations can submit referrals for individuals who may benefit from short-term housing and workforce support.
